Pablo Hernandez O’Hagan is the Founder and CEO of Ingenia Group Digital Marketing. Founded in 1996, Ingenia Group is a digital agency that designs, develops and markets web products.

Voted as one of the top digital agencies in Mexico in 2012 by Merca 2.0 magazine, Pablo Hernandez O’Hagan’s Ingenia Group offers a wide variety of digital products including website building for some of the world’s largest and most widely-recognized companies including Coca Cola, Wal-Mart and, on the national level, the Mexican Stock Exchange.

A native of Mexico City, Pablo Hernandez O’Hagan began building websites when he was 14 years old alongside his father. He has started several companies, and currently cites Ingenia Group as his main company, which he runs with his partner, Eduardo Bello. Mr. Hernandez O’Hagan also provides coaching in Spanish based on author Michael Gerber’s book, “The E-Myth.”

Pablo Hernandez is married and has one child. He balances his life by competing in triathlons.

Lessons Learned

“If I’m not working for the company I was aiming for, I’m not working for anybody.” I started building websites when I was 14 years old, with my father. So, it just kind of happened. I didn’t expect that I was going to create a company out of it. When I was in college, I wanted to work for McKinsey or Boston Consulting Group or something like that. I wanted somebody to pay for my MBA. But, I didn’t get selected to work for either one of those companies. That rejection turned out to be the best thing. I created Ingenia Group and started building websites. Ten years later, Ingenia Group has a staff of more than 100 employees.

“Companies should not depend on people…they should depend on systems and processes.” I decided to partner with Michael Gerber and offer e-myth coaching in Spanish. E-myth stands for entrepreneurial myth. Michael Gerber is the author of several books, including “The E-Myth: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It.”

An example of applying the methodology of proven systems and processes towards digital marketing is Ingenia Group. We’re taking the agency global this year. It may seem chaotic, but everything can be brought to a process. Ideas may differ but still, you can follow rules.

“Innovate and continue growing, but use set rules to do things.” It’s not about being enclosed by rules. It’s about the way you do things and enable people. A teaching process is necessary, and so is sharing best practices. This is what makes us unique. This is how we create value.
