Bird Blitch is a Georgia native, and has stuck close to home when it comes to education and business. Although this may seem limiting, it has not been restraining to Blitch’s success in the least. Blitch graduated from the Georgia Insistute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Following his formal education, he moved into a position with Cable & Wireless PCL. While working here he interfaced with clients such as CNN, Delta Airlines, and more renowned companies.
After employment with Cable & Wireless PCL Blitch moved onto BroadSource. BroadSource Inc. was Blitch’s first start-up, co-founded in 2000 with Andy Monik. BroadSource created software to assist clients in auditing their monthly billing and annual costs. Blitch raised a million dollars in funding for BroadSource at the company’s conception. The company provided a service that helped customers save 5-8% on their annual audited costs. Blitch served as the Executive Vice President of Channel Alliances from 2005-2010, as well as the Executive Vice President of Product Strategy.
With a taste for start-ups and an understanding of a good sales pitch, Blitch fell into the founding of Patientco. One day, while riding an elevator, Blitch was asked what he did for a living. He responded, “Well, after my wife had a baby, we were flooded with bills from many different providers. Often, patients don't pay. And when patients do want to pay, providers don't accept the forms of payment they want to use. I'm working on a new technology platform to make it easier for patients to pay providers." Little did Blitch know, he was speaking to the COO of Eagle Hospital Physicians. She asked if Blitch would like to present his idea to her CEO. He accepted, but had no product to pitch.
With this inspiration to get the ball rolling, Blitch worked day and night for the next month. He had the groundwork for a product that could be pitched, and the meeting result in a $699,000 two-year contract. Patientco has identified the problem that the medical industry is a patient industry, and provided a service to help physicians insure payment in the ever-changing industry.

I have always worked in the payment space of the business world, specifically the medical industry. It was not until my wife had children and that I dealt with medical bills that I then identified the opportunity for great success. I learned and understood that the medical industry is a patient oriented business. There are many more patients then there are doctors, and they are looking for the best of the best in healthcare.
For this reason, customer loyalty is a huge part of monetary success in the medicine. By personalizing an experience, your bill payment can be much easier—generating the immense success of Patientco. These lessons were very important to my business success.

|“||When you think about it, there’s a huge problem out there right now. The fastest-growing payer is the patient. If you’re a provider, you’ve got to wake up to the fact that times are changing real fast and there needs to be a different way to manage this whole billing process.||”|
|“||Patientco changes the equation in healthcare. We’re really creating a scenario where patients win, providers win, and that’s the way it should be.||”|
