Ashar Aziz is a Pakistani-American entrepreneur, tech giant, and businessman who founded the high-tech company, FireEye, in 2004. FireEye is essentially a virtualization engine which aims to protect its customers’ infrastructure from attacks that may come through the web or email. Since its inception more than a decade ago, Aziz has grown the company exponentially. Today Aziz is among the top recognized experts in the field of Internet and computer security. Over the years, Aziz has served as FireEye’s CEO and has led numerous technical and business strategies for the company. Prior to his work with FireEye, Aziz worked hard to get more than 20 patents in the areas of networking, cryptography, network security, and data center virtualization.
In the early 2000s, Aziz founded Terraspring, a company focused on data center automation and virtualization. In 2002, Terraspring was acquired by Sun Microsystems, at which point Aziz then served as CTO on one of the company’s top programs. Before founding Terraspring, Aziz worked for more than 12 years at Sun Microsystems as an engineer with a focus on networking and network security. Aziz attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received an SB In Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He also holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of California - Berkeley, where he was the recipient of the UC Regents Fellowship.
