Antoine Balaresque is the co-founder and CEO of Lily Robotics, which designs and sells drones that take photos when you throw it in the air.
Antoine and Henry Barlow, his co-founder, started Lily in September 2013 after Antoine’s family went on vacation a few years ago. Antoine realized that his mother wasn't in any photos from the trip -- she was always behind the camera. So he reached out to Henry Barlow, another UC-Berkeley student, and the two created Lily in the basement of a UC Berkeley robotics lab, where Henry and Antoine built the first prototype using a Raspberry Pi and an Arduino.
In spring 2014, leading investors Shana Fisher and SV Angel supported the Lily vision and showed them the yellow brick road. Lily also earned investments from prominent angel investor Ron Conway and Andreessen Horowitz Board Partner Shana Fisher and were advised by senior executives at GoPro and Dropcam.
Lily works hard to create a product that is not only innovative but also affordable for all. Along with two hardware and two software engineers, Antoine and Henry are working out of Henry’s garage in Silicon Valley to bring Lily to life. The team’s using 3D printers to create prototypes of the camera and are in the process of finding a manufacturer to produce the product at scale.
In his spare time, Antoine enjoys hacking, reading and sports.
