Lessons Learned

Being the only female employee at a startup with 50 employees made me realize something needed to be done in order to bring women into the tech industry.

To me, providing like-minded, powerful women with the education and empowerment to pursue their dreams in the tech industry is of the utmost importance.

The mentality, innovative attitude, and collaborative nature of tech startups is what drew me into the industry and made me want to stick around.

College is a great place to gain a basic education and foundation, but nothing can compare to the experience and knowledge you gain on the job.

If I had to give any advice to someone interested in a job at a tech startup, I would tell them to network, start a blog, be diligent, be prepared to wear many different hats, and just to be yourself.

Creativity and leadership are two of the most important things.

Another piece of advice I would give to anyone starting their own business is to be nice. Being nice, grateful, and humble will get you a long way.

When it comes to building a product and a brand, simple is better.
